Step 1: Verify Your Score on cbseresults.nic.in (Within Day 1)
Before you celebrate or panic, confirm the number on the screen is the number on the official CBSE database. Three identifiers are mandatory and all are on your admit card:
- Open cbseresults.nic.in or results.cbse.nic.in.
- Click Senior School Certificate Examination (Class XII) Results 2026.
- Enter Roll Number, School Number, Admit Card ID, and your Date of Birth.
- Cross-verify subject codes against your admit card; mismatched codes are the most common reason for “result not found” errors.
- Screenshot the result and email the image to yourself so it survives even if the portal lags.
If the portal is throttled (peak load is 4 pm to 9 pm on declaration day), wait 30 minutes and retry on the alternate domain. Both portals are syndicated copies of the same database, so the score will be identical.
Step 2: Pull the Digital Marksheet from DigiLocker
CBSE pushes Class 12 marksheets, pass certificates and migration certificates to DigiLocker within 6 to 24 hours of result declaration. These DigiLocker copies are legally equivalent to physical marksheets under the IT Act, 2000 and Rule 9A of the IT Rules, 2016. Most colleges, including DU CSAS, JoSAA, NEET counselling and CLAT consortium, accept them.
2A. If you already have a DigiLocker account
- Open the DigiLocker app or visit digilocker.gov.in.
- Log in with mobile number + 6-digit security PIN, or use Aadhaar OTP.
- Go to Issued Documents. Your CBSE Class XII Marksheet 2026 should already be visible.
- If not visible, tap Search Documents, then CBSE, then Class XII Marksheet 2026. Enter Roll Number, Year (2026), and your Aadhaar-linked mobile gets an OTP. The marksheet is pulled in seconds.
- Download the PDF. Save a copy to Google Drive and email it to a parent or guardian.
2B. If you do not have a DigiLocker account yet
- Install DigiLocker (Android/iOS) or go to the web portal.
- Sign up with the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar. This is critical: if your Aadhaar mobile is your father’s number, you may need to update it at a UIDAI centre before DigiLocker recognises you.
- Set a 6-digit security PIN and verify via OTP.
- Link Aadhaar to enable automatic fetching of CBSE documents. Repeat the search flow in Step 2A.
Step 3: Download via UMANG (Backup Channel)
The UMANG app (Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance) is the government-built backup if DigiLocker is overloaded:
- Install UMANG and register with your Aadhaar-linked mobile.
- Search CBSE. Choose Class XII Result 2026.
- Enter Roll Number, School Number, Admit Card ID, Date of Birth.
- UMANG returns the same digital marksheet that DigiLocker holds, both sources draw from the CBSE result database.
Step 4: Migration Certificate and Pass Certificate
The Migration Certificate is mandatory if you move from CBSE to a non-CBSE board affiliation for higher studies (most state universities request it). The Pass Certificate is your portable proof of completion.
- Both certificates auto-issue to DigiLocker within 7 to 10 days of result declaration. You do not need to apply separately.
- If you need a hard copy embossed with the CBSE seal, your school will collect it from the CBSE Regional Office on your behalf, request it in writing within 30 days.
- The DigiLocker PDF carries a unique URI/QR; verifiers can scan it to validate authenticity directly with CBSE.
Step 5: Subject-Wise Merit Certificates (Top 0.1%)
Per CBSE policy, there is no official stream-wise or overall topper list. Instead, the board recognises the top 0.1% of candidates in each subject with a Merit Certificate. These are pushed silently to DigiLocker. To check:
- Open DigiLocker, go to Issued Documents, then CBSE.
- Look for Subject-wise Merit Certificate Class XII 2026. If you find it, you scored in the top tier in that subject.
- Add it to your college application portfolio, most Tier-1 universities recognise this as an academic distinction.
