CBSE Class 12 Result 2026: Pass Percentage, Revaluation & What Next

Graduation cap representing completion of Class 12 board examination

CBSE Class 12 Result 2026 was declared on 13 May 2026 at cbseresults.nic.in, with an overall pass percentage of 85.20%. Of the 17,68,968 students who appeared, 15,07,109 cleared the examination. Girls outshone boys with 88.86% versus 82.13% — a 6.73-percentage-point gap that continued the 2024 and 2025 trend. Trivandrum was the top-performing region at 95.62%. If you, your son, or your daughter is staring at the marksheet right now — whether overjoyed, disappointed, or somewhere in between — this guide answers the three questions that matter most: how to apply for revaluation, what to do if you’ve been placed in compartment, and what next after Class 12 in 2026.

CBSE Class 12 Result 2026: The Numbers

  • Overall pass percentage: 85.20%
  • Girls: 88.86%   |   Boys: 82.13%
  • Total appeared: 17,68,968
  • Total passed: 15,07,109
  • Top region: Trivandrum (95.62%)
  • Marksheet access: DigiLocker app, UMANG app, cbseresults.nic.in, cbse.gov.in

CBSE has continued its post-2020 policy of not publishing an official topper list, though individual high-scorers (Neelesh Joshi at 98.6%, Jashandeep Kaur and Naitik at 98.4%) have been reported in the press. The school-wise mark statement on DigiLocker is the official record — print two clean copies for college admissions.

If You Want Revaluation: The Official 3-Step Process

CBSE’s revaluation is a strictly sequential three-step online workflow at cbseit.in. You cannot skip a step.

Want structured CLAT preparation? Try our free 5-day Bodh Demo Course with live classes and expert guidance. Start Free →
  • Step 1 — Verification of Marks (₹500 per subject): CBSE checks for totaling errors and missed sections. This is mostly a clerical recheck, not a re-grading.
  • Step 2 — Photocopy of Answer Sheet (₹700 per answer book): Only available to those who applied for Step 1. You receive a scanned PDF of your evaluated answer book within a defined window.
  • Step 3 — Re-evaluation of Specific Questions (₹100 per question): After studying your photocopy, you can flag specific questions where you believe marking is wrong. CBSE re-evaluates only those questions.

The verification/rechecking window typically opens within 3–5 days of result declaration. Visit cbseit.in/cbse/web/rchk/reeval.aspx for the live application link. Realistic expectation: in roughly 8–12% of cases, a 1–5 mark change happens at Step 3; large jumps are rare but not impossible.

If You’re in Compartment: Don’t Panic

If you’ve been placed in compartment in up to two subjects, you are eligible to clear them at the CBSE Supplementary Examination 2026 on 15 July 2026. Key facts:

  • LOC submission window: Starts 2 June 2026 (via your school).
  • Exam date: 15 July 2026.
  • Result: Expected August 2026.
  • Fee: Approximately ₹300–500 per subject.
  • Eligibility: Must have appeared in main 2026 boards and be placed in compartment in at most two subjects. More than two = not eligible for supplementary; you’ll repeat the year.

Two months is enough to clear a compartment paper if you study just 4 hours a day with last 10 years’ PYQs and the NCERT. Don’t waste April-May regret time — start tomorrow. Our Class 12 crash modules include compartment-focused tracks.

What Next After Class 12 in 2026: A Stream-by-Stream Map

For Parents: Three Things to Avoid This Week

  • Don’t compare your child to a cousin / neighbour / topper. The 6.73-point girl-boy gap, the 95.62% Trivandrum aggregate — these are statistics, not standards. Your child’s number is their number; the next decision is what matters.
  • Don’t rush stream switches on result day. A 92% in PCM doesn’t automatically mean “drop NEET, switch to engineering”. A 78% in PCB doesn’t mean “give up medicine”. Let the child sleep on it, talk to a counsellor in the next 5–7 days, then decide.
  • Don’t ignore compartment students. Two months of focused prep + the July 15 supplementary is a real second chance. Discouragement now is the single biggest reason students drop out of the system entirely.

Final Word

A board result is a milestone, not a destination. The 14.80% of students who didn’t pass this cycle are not “failures” — they are aspirants between cycles. The 85.20% who passed are at the start of the actual race. Whether your next step is revaluation, supplementary, CUET, JEE Advanced, Re-NEET, CLAT 2027 prep, CA Foundation, or simply taking 10 days to breathe and decide — Ready For Boards is here for the second leg.
